SM260
Longjun
Three roll grinding machine, commonly referred to as three roll grinder, is equipment designed for grinding and dispersing high viscosity materials. It is available in two primary categories: experimental three roll grinders and production three roll grinders. This equipment processes various liquid slurries and paste materials for commercial procurement and industrial applications.
Longjun manufactures a range of three roll grinders to meet different production requirements. Models SM405, SM315 and SM260 are designed for mass production operations, while models SM160, SM120 and SM65 are suitable for small batch production or laboratory use. The SM260 model, featured here, balances production capacity and precision, making it appropriate for medium to large scale manufacturing facilities.
The three roll grinder achieves grinding through the squeezing and rubbing action of three horizontally arranged rollers rotating at different speeds. Material is fed between the first two rollers, where initial grinding occurs, and then passes through the gap between the middle and third rollers for further processing.
The rollers are centrifugally cast from cold hard alloy cast iron, with a surface hardness of HS70 or above. This material provides resistance to wear and maintains dimensional stability under varying pressure and temperature conditions during operation.
All roller diameters undergo high-precision grinding. This manufacturing process allows the equipment to achieve a grinding fineness of less than 5μm for processed materials, resulting in consistent particle size distribution.
The transmission system uses multi-row chain wheel soft start technology, which operates with low noise and smooth power delivery. Roller gap adjustment is performed via a parallel handwheel screw mechanism, allowing for simple and accurate control over the final particle size of the ground material.
The three roll grinder is equipped with an integrated cooling device that dissipates heat generated during roller operation. This feature enables continuous production runs and simplifies color changing processes when switching between different material batches.

Note: The S150 model achieves a finished particle size range of 3-18μm after three passes.
Three roll grinders are used in multiple industrial applications where processing of high viscosity materials is required. Common applications include the production of paints, inks, pigments, plastics, cosmetics, soap, ceramics and rubber.
This equipment is particularly useful for materials that require high dispersion viscosity and fine particle size. It also processes materials that are difficult to circulate or not resistant to circulation in sand mills, expanding the range of materials that can be effectively ground in manufacturing operations.
Production models (SM405, SM315, SM260) have higher motor power and larger roller dimensions, resulting in higher throughput for mass production. Experimental models (SM160, SM120, SM65) have smaller capacities and are designed for formulation development and small batch testing.
With properly adjusted roller gaps, the equipment can achieve a grinding fineness of less than 5μm for most materials. The S150 model specifically produces particles in the 3-18μm range after three processing passes.
Particle size is adjusted by modifying the gap between the rollers using the parallel handwheel screw mechanism. This allows for precise control over the final product characteristics.
Yes, the integrated cooling system dissipates heat generated during operation, allowing for continuous production runs. The design also facilitates quick color changes between different material batches.
